HEL Direct Fit SST Transmission Oil Cooler Kit for Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 10 X.
The SST gearbox is widely regarded as the weak point of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X driving experience, particularly when used hard on fast road or track. Elevated transmission oil temperatures can cause the car to enter failsafe mode, cutting performance and often ending a session early.
With very few well-engineered off-the-shelf solutions available, we set out to develop a direct-fit SST transmission oil cooler kit that provides a substantial increase in cooling performance, without compromising OEM functionality.
As with our other direct-fit cooling solutions, we 3D scanned the Evo X to ensure the best possible fitment and airflow management. The result is a set of custom-manufactured aluminium mounting brackets that replace the OEM cooler arrangement while still enabling the use of the factory-specific air ducting. This keeps airflow directed exactly where it’s needed for consistent, effective cooling.
The kit is based around the Swedish-manufactured Setrab Series 6 ProLine oil cooler, upgraded to a 25-row core to meet the demands of sustained high-load use. The larger core increases both surface area and oil capacity, helping control transmission temperatures during prolonged driving, while maintaining excellent flow characteristics and reliability.
This setup has been proven on track with Evo specialists Auto Torque, completing full test days with no overheating or driveline issues throughout – something that simply wasn’t possible with the OEM cooler.
This comprehensive kit arrives with preassembled HEL braided hoses, anodised aluminium fittings, and all required hardware for a clean and straightforward installation. It’s an essential upgrade for any SST-equipped Evo X that’s driven as intended, delivering a safe, reliable and highly effective transmission oil cooling solution.
